Our commitment
Every child and young person we teach has the right to be safe. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility at Brainhub, and we follow the principles of the Department for Education’s statutory guidance, Keeping Children Safe in Education.
Safer recruitment
- We interview every tutor and check their qualifications and teaching experience.
- Every tutor has an enhanced DBSDisclosure and Barring Service: the criminal record check for anyone working with children. check before they teach.
- We take references and check identity and right to work.
- Tutors agree to our code of conduct before their first lesson.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead
Brainhub has a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) who is responsible for safeguarding across our hubs and online lessons. Any concern raised with a tutor or a member of staff is passed to the DSL the same day.
Keeping online lessons safe
- Lessons take place on agreed, professional platforms (Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams, with a shared Miro whiteboard), never on personal social media.
- Tutors don’t contact students privately outside the arrangements agreed with parents.
- We encourage parents of younger children to stay nearby during online lessons.
Lessons at our hubs and at home
- At our hubs, lessons take place in open, visible teaching spaces.
- For lessons at home, a parent or responsible adult must be in the home throughout.
